It’s a Vibe

Good morning Friend.

The other morning, I literally had to drag myself out of bed. 

My kids and husband felt the same way and looked like zombies as they clutched their teas and coffees around the kitchen island.

But then I added music to the mix….

I don’t often play music during the week. Music is a weekend thing for me. It’s a vibe for relaxation and play.

On this particular morning, I fired up a random Spotify playlist called Protecting My Energy, and immediately I felt its magic working on me. Looking around the kitchen, I felt a loosening in the room, a collective relaxing of spirit. It turns out, this shift wasn’t just in my head. Music actually helps us manage stress and mood according to research.

Our kitchen music shift reminded me that humans are profoundly sensitive creatures.

It reminded me that while the world has been (and continues to be) filled with heaviness, we can lean on music to lighten us. To enliven us. 

To remind us that in this moment, right now, we are ok. We have what we need. 

Your thought experiment this week is to gently insert music into moments with other humans and see what happens. Have your favorite song playing in the Zoom meeting you’re leading. Fire up your favorite playlist as people file into your office. 

Let music be there for you and your people this week.
