Good Morning, Friend.
I have written and rewritten this note a few times now, trying to find a way to show up in your inbox this morning.
I’m just not sure what to say.
Like you, I’ve been reading the news, watching clips of the massacre in Israel and the counter-attacks taking place.
Like you, I’ve been reading about the devastating earthquake in Afghanistan.
Like you, I’ve been reading the news out of Washington, DC, and wondering when we’ll ever have a functioning government, where people can meet in the middle and get things done.
And here’s the thing: I literally don’t know what to say about any of it.
All I know is that once again, we are collectively witnessing waves of grief, tragedy, and trauma. Some of it is hitting home and affecting those we love. Some of it is disconnected from our everyday realities, but still our hearts ache for people we will never meet.
All I know is that being human is hard. We are fragile creatures at the mercy of forces so much bigger than us.
All we can do is comfort those in pain, send money to the people on the ground trying to make a difference, and try to fathom that despite the horror, every day is precious. Every human life is precious. Every conversation matters.
There’s no thought experiment this week. Just know I’m with you, watching all of this and hurting. And loving as hard as I can. Maybe that’s enough for now.
Sending all my love,
B
