Hi Friend,
I was recently at a large dinner gathering with my husband. Around the table sat old friends and new, and about an hour into the meal, the conversation started to wane. We had caught up on family news, work news, life news.
I kind of panic when conversations go quiet, so I like to have an engaging question ready to keep the connection going.
I asked, “What has been your favorite moment of this week? It can be grand or small, but what was a moment you really enjoyed?”
Each person shared their answer, and we all marveled at the simplicity and sweetness of the responses.
We left the dinner feeling the warmth of having shared something meaningful, and having listened deeply to each other.
It reminded me just how wonderful humans can be when we slow down long enough to ponder the seemingly small moments in this life. Your thought experiment this week is to be on the lookout for “moments” that feel good to you. Then, when the weekend arrives, ask yourself and your people … “What was your favorite moment this week?” Listen to them deeply, and reflect that goodness back to them.
Notice how it feels to share and listen. To connect. To slow down long enough to reflect on the blessing of your life, even if things are difficult right now. Finding the small moments of grace can make all the difference.
Shine on, my friend. We need your light.
